Helpful tips for viewing your bill

Helpful hints

  • The EASIEST way to locate a tax bill is to simply add the house number in the little box on the address line.

  • The bill must be viewed in PDF format, otherwise it will appear blank. (ex. bills opened in a web-browser window).

  • Looking up by name - type in exact spelling of the owner's last name

  • Looking up taxes by address - Street number needs to be exact - example 105-107 street number-if just using the number, all addresses with that number will appear

  • Street Address - do not include Street, Avenue, Drive, Place, Park etc.

  • If the exact street number is not known, just type in the street name, the whole street appears alphabetically by the owner's last name

  • Some streets have several different names, Perry Road, Rte 246, Wyoming Rd, Rte 19, etc…

Helpful information

To make any corrections to the name and/or address on your school tax bill, or to make a change to your bank code on the bill, you must contact the correct assessor for your township.  Pavilion Central School District is located in three (3) counties, Genesee, Livingston and Wyoming.  Below are links to the current listing of assessors for each of the three counties.

Follow the link below to find the correct assessor for your township.

Genesee County Assessors

Livingston County Assessors

Wyoming County Assessors

Per NYS Real Property Tax Law (ss 922,942):  A property owner is not relieved of the responsibility for payment of taxes despite the fact that his/her name is not properly entered on the tax roll and no statement of taxes was received by him/her. There is no provision of law which would permit a waiver of penalties and interest arising out of a failure to make timely payment of tax bills.

NEW STAR Information

  • Changes in the STAR Property Tax Rebate for New Homeowners Only (those who purchased a home after August 1, 2015).

  • Rebate is now in the form of a check versus a direct credit on the School Tax Bill.  New applicants who qualify for STAR will register with New York State instead of applying with their assessor.  If they qualify, they will receive a STAR credit in the form of a check, rather than receiving a property tax exemption. The dollar value of the credit will be the same as the property tax exemption.

  • To check the STAR check delivery schedule: https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/property/star/star-check-delivery-schedule.htm

  • New Homeowners must register with NYS Department of Taxation using this link https://www.tax.ny.gov/star/ by July to receive a check by September of the same calendar year or by phone at 518-457-2036.  Register for the School Tax Relief (STAR) Credit

Common Errors on Tax Payments

  • Error: Check is not signed.
Result: Check is returned to the maker and the tax bill remains unpaid.

  • Error: Numeric and written amount on check don't match.
Result: Bank will not process check. Check is returned to the maker and the tax bill remains unpaid.

  • Error: Amount paid does not include the penalty due.
Result: Amount due depends on date payment is made. If payment is made in person at the bank, the date the payment is received at the bank teller's window is considered the date of payment. If a tax payment is mailed, the date of the official postmark on the envelope is considered the date of payment. If the amount submitted is not the amount due on the date of payment, which would include any penalties due on that date, the check is returned to the maker with a notification of underpayment and the tax bill remains unpaid.
