Important COVID 19 Updates

Important COVID 19 Updates

December 4, 2020

Dear Pavilion CSD Community Member:

As we continue to navigate through the pandemic, we know cases are on the rise in our region. In regard to communication, we need to strike a good balance.  As a district we want to be respectful of student and employee privacy regarding their personal medical information.  We also want to make sure that people who need to know are informed when someone in our district tests positive.  Therefore, the District is making some small adjustments in how we communicate when a positive case occurs in our buildings.  The change will not impact making sure that people who need to know are informed when someone tests positive.

Starting on December 4th and moving forward, we will contact you if and when we are made aware that your child came in contact with someone who tested positive.  We have had several situations this year where people were required to quarantine, and those who needed to know were informed.

If the Health Department determines that certain groups of children are not at risk for exposure and do not need to quarantine, then there is no reason to notify those who are not at risk. With that in mind, please understand that I will only communicate to everyone when the information affects everyone. For instance, if the number of people who need to quarantine forces an entire grade level or building to quarantine and to transition to online learning, then that will be communicated to everyone.

Parents and community members are able to track information about the number of cases in the Pavilion School District at this website:   https://schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov/#/home

We continue to follow the directives from the NYS Department of Health along with our local health department officials, and will continue to enforce our health and safety processes and policies.

Please continue to be vigilant in your efforts and help us prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Your proactive efforts allow our school to remain open for our students. For additional reliable information on preventing the spread of COVID-19, please go to www.cdc.gov or www.health.ny.gov

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the District.

Sincerely,

Kate Hoffman

Sinceramente,

Kate Hoffman

I am writing to provide you an important update regarding COVID-19 and our District.

Today our school was notified by the Genesee County Department of Health that one of our students in the elementary school has tested positive for COVID-19.  Any students or staff that have been deemed in “close contact” have been contacted by the district and will be notified by the Genesee County Department of Health starting today.  Due to HIPPA regulations, we are unable to share any additional information about this individual.  Please be advised that the District is following all Department of Health guidelines as directed.

Through the guidance of the Genesee County Department of Health it was determined that we are allowed to continue our current in-person hybrid learning model and DO NOT need to convert to 100% remote learning.

Rest assured that every precaution is being taken to ensure the health and safety of all students, staff, and our community.  We continue to follow the directives from the NYS Department of Health along with our local health department officials, and will continue to enforce our health and safety processes and policies.
