Certified Instrumental Music Teacher 4th – 12th Grade, Probationary


The Pavilion Middle/High School is seeking an instrumental music teacher for the 2020-21 school year.  Pavilion Central School faculty and staff work in a small, rural, family-like setting that is located less than an hour away from either Rochester or Buffalo, which makes PCS not only A Great Place to Learn, but also A Great Place to Work!!


Job Description

·        Implement an instrumental music program in two buildings for grades 4th – 12th.

·        Provide music lessons individually or in small groups to develop excellence in instrumental knowledge, skill and performance.

·        Direct instrumental performers, such as marching band, concert band, soloists, and ensembles.

·        Provide for band participation in extracurricular events, including concerts, musicals, pep rallies, parades, etc.

·        Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify student eligibility.

·        Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, inventorying, and storing all equipment, supplies, and musical instruments.

·        Be a champion for the instrumental program and actively recruit and retain student enrollment.

·        Stay current in research-based instructional practices, pedagogy and NYS standards.

·        Be actively involved in local, regional and NYS organizations supporting student participation in concerts and festivals.

·        Utilize technology to maximize instruction and learning, particularly the Google Platform for on-line learning.

·        Maintain and enhance regular collaboration with department members to advance programming in the fine arts department.



·        NYS Certification in Instrumental Music Education required – provisional or permanent.
