DRIVER EDUCATION

 

Driver Education is currently offered after school and during the summer. PLEASE BE ADVISED THERE IS A FEE FOR TAKING DRIVER EDUCATION.

Grades 11-12    Level 3  20 weeks
Semester One

Eligibility Requirements:

       Students are eligible for Driver Education first by grade level, with seniors having preference over juniors, and so on.  Within each grade level, eligibility is determined by birth order.  Vocational students will take precedence over others during summer sessions.  Only students who are sixteen (16) years of age or older on or before the first day of class are eligible for enrollment for the first semester.  Driver Education consists of both theory and driving practice.  A final exam counts as 20% of the final grade.

Semester Two

Students are eligible for Driver Education first by grade level, with seniors having preference over juniors, and so on.  Within each grade level, eligibility is determined by birth order.  Vocational students will take precedence over others during summer sessions.  For the second semester, students must be sixteen (16) years of age or older on or before the first day of class.  Driver Education consists of both theory and driving practice.  In addition, if a student has already been enrolled in Driver’s Education at Pavilion Central School and did not complete the course or failed the course, he/she is only eligible if there are open positions and no waiting list.  A final exam counts as 20% of the final grade. 

 

 

A New York State Drivers Permit is required to enroll in the course

REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSING DRIVER EDUCATION

1. Complete required number of hours on the road

2. Complete required number of hours in theory class

3. Complete a major project

4. Passing grade is 65%
