June 6, 2018 Shared Services Minutes

Shared Services Committee Meeting

6:00 p.m., June 6, 2018

Location: York High School- Athletic Director’s Office

Present: Jim Sattora, Dave Furletti, Cal Ayers-Tillotson, Ken Ellison, Dave Sperino, Steve Beardsley, Sheila Eigenbrod, Marilyn Moore, and Ed Orman, Jr.

Shared sports updates:

Shared programs: Football, Boys Soccer, Boys VB, X-Country, and Swimming. All programs are doing well and many would be at risk of elimination if the share option wasn’t available. Mr. Orman reported the State’s decision to count 40% of the smaller district’s student population in determining the shared team’s classification. This is an increase from 30% in past years. This will make our teams Class C.  Boy’s modified soccer will be split into 2 teams for the fall 2018 season due to numbers. Girls Soccer programs will remain independent. Girls Volleyball teams will maintain current status. X-Country numbers are good and Boys Volleyball is good for the 2018 season as well.

FFA/Agriculture Program:

PCS has started an Ag Education program and formed a FFA club. Our program has had a strong start placing second in the State FFA competition. In the 18-19 school year a YCS student will attend the PCS FFA program. We are currently exploring a Junior FFA option.

SAT/ACT Prep:

For the fourth year Pavilion and York will offer shared SAT and ACT prep programs. York offered a career fair in which PCS students participated. Students from both districts continue to benefit from these opportunities.

Shared Assemblies: PCS will host an assembly featuring Keith O'Neil, a former National Football League (NFL) player who, at the age of 30, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder will present his story.

Shared Professional Development:  PCS will offer training in the Trauma Informed Schools model. A national speaker will provide the PD and approximately 30 York teachers will participate with the PCS staff.
