The regular meeting of the Pavilion Central School District Board of Education was called to order at 7:00 PM by Board President Marirose Ethington in the Board of Education conference room.

 

Board members present:  Marirose Ethington, Jeff Finch, Kevin Stefan, Rebecca (Becky) Dziekan, Callin (Cal) Ayers-Tillotson (7:02 PM), and Chris Jeffres

 

Board members absent: Margaret (Peg) Gaston

 

Others present:  Kenneth Ellison, Jon Wilson, Charles Martelle, Stacey Tallon, Donald Childs and Mary Jo Pahl

 

Others Absent: Sheila Eigenbrod

APPROVE AGENDA:

**        Moved by Chris Jeffres; seconded by Kevin Stefan to approve agenda with additions; carried unanimously (6 votes)

 

**        New Teachers, Jennifer Stringer, Nigel Croston and Jacob Clark introduced themselves to the Board and expressed their thanks for their appointments to their respective appointments. The Board thanked them for coming and for introducing themselves.

 

**        Callin Ayers-Tillotson Arrived

 

CONSENT GROUPING:

**        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Chris Jeffres to approve all items in the consent grouping –BOE minutes from 8/27/18; Sub CSE minutes from 8/22/18; 8/24/18 and 8/27/18; CPSE minutes from 8/22/18 and 9/11/18 carried unanimously (6 votes)

 

OLD BUSINESS:

**        Mr. Ellison spoke to the Board regarding the girls modified volleyball team that we are participating in with Wyoming Central School and the progress of the team to date. He also spoke about the girls modified soccer team that we are participating in with York Central School, noting that there are three squads of nine girls each who will compete in a total of twelve games. He answered questions and was thanked for his update. No action required.

 

BUSINESS:

 

1.                Senior Trip Approval:   

**        Moved by Kevin Stefan, seconded by Becky Dziekan to approve the Class of 2019 Senior Trip to Philadelphia PA/Wildwood NJ to be held from June 6th through June 9th, 2019 as shown in the below tentative itinerary; carried unanimously (6 votes).

2.                GVEP Presentation:

**        Mr. Dave DeLavergne and Mr. Kevin McDonald from Genesee Valley Educational Partnership spoke to the Board about the career and tech program and various other programs that are offered to our students through the partnership.  They answered questions and the Board thanked them for their time; no action required.

 

 

 

3.                Resignations:

**        Moved by Chris Jeffres, seconded by Becky Dziekan to accept the letter of resignation from Leah Coon from the position of Artistic Designer for the musical effective immediately; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

**        Moved by Callin Ayers-Tillotson, seconded by Chris Jeffres to accept the letter of resignation from Korrinna Taylor from the position of Teacher Assistant effective immediately; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

4.                Appointments:

**        Moved by Becky Dziekan, seconded by Jeff Finch to appoint Joe Paris to the position of Artistic Designer for the musical for the 2018-2019 school year at the rate of $500.00; carried unanimously (6 votes).  

 

**        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Chris Jeffres to approve the six (6) substitute teaching applications as presented for Gavin Townsend, Devin Christie, Samuel McAllister, Johathan Holland, Brittaney Lang and Jonathon Stutes; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

**        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Becky Dziekan to appoint Nigel Croston to the probationary position of Band/Instrumental Music teacher effective 9/4/18 at the contracted starting rate of pay of $38,000.00 for a teacher with one year of teaching experience; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

**        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Callin Ayers-Tillotson to approve Katie Legg to be a substitute cleaner at the hourly rate of pay of $10.40; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

**        Moved by Chris Jeffres, seconded by Kevin Stefan to appoint Korrinna Taylor to a provisional 10 month clerk typist position effective 9/18/18 at the starting rate of pay of $17,624.00 which is prorated based on her date of hire.; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

5.                Medical Leave - Dickson:

**        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Chris Jeffres to approve the paid medical leave as requested by Mr. Dave Dickson for the period of November 13, 2018 through approximately January 15, 2019; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

6.                Approve transportation contract and inter-municipal agreement with Perry CSD:

**        Moved by Callin Ayers-Tillotson, seconded by Becky Dziekan to approve the transportation contract and inter-municipal agreement with Perry CSD as presented by Mr. Childs; carried unanimously (6 votes).

 

7.                Approve emergency transportation contract with Student Transportation, Inc. for period of September 5, 2018 – October 6, 2018:

**        Moved by Callin Ayers Tillotson, seconded by Jeff Finch to approve the emergency transportation contract with Student Transportation, Inc. for the period of September 5, 2018 – October 6, 2018 as presented by Mr. Childs; carried unanimously (6 votes).
