The special meeting of the Pavilion Central School District Board of Education was called to order at 7:30 AM by Board President Marirose Ethington in the high school conference room.

 

Board members present:  Marirose Ethington, Jeff Finch, Kevin Stefan, John Bannister, Margaret (Peg) Gaston, Rebecca (Becky) Dziekan (7:31 AM)

 

Board members absent: Callin Ayers-Tillotson and

 

Others present:  Kenneth Ellison, Sheila Eigenbrod, Jon Wilson, Jim Helmicki, Stacey Tallon, Mary Jo Pahl

APPROVE AGENDA:

**        Moved by Jeff Finch; seconded by Peg Gaston to approve agenda with additions; carried unanimously (6 votes)

 

CONSENT GROUPING:

**        Moved by Kevin Stefan seconded by Jeff Finch to approve all items in the consent grouping – BOE minutes from July 31, 2017; carried unanimously (6 votes)

 

BUSINESS:

 

  1. Emergency Capital Project Award Bid:   

    **        Moved by Peg Gaston, seconded by Becky Dziekan to award the emergency project bid for the rooftop HVAC replacement at the Dorothy B. Bunce Elementary School building to Greater Niagara Mechanical, Inc. as recommended by Clark Patterson Lee as they are the lowest bidders coming in at $396,200.00; carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

  2. Appointments:

    **        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Peg Gaston to appoint Melissa Staba-Busch to the position of Long Term Substitute teacher upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools to cover for Stephanie Curry while she is out on maternity leave to begin on or about September 12, 2017 for a period of either 6 or 8 weeks; carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

    **        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Becky Dziekan to approve the one substitute teacher application as presented and upon the recommendation of the superintendent of school for Michael Masetta; carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

    **        Moved by Kevin Stefan, seconded by Peg Gaston to appoint Kristen Beardsley to the probationary (6 months) positon of Teacher Aide upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools at the contracted starting rate of minimum wage; carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

    **        Moved by Peg Gaston, seconded by Becky Dziekan to appoint Nicole Palmer to the probationary (6 months) positon of Teacher Aide upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools at the contracted starting rate of minimum wage; carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

    **        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Peg Gaston to appoint Amanda Goodwin to the probationary (6 months) positon of Teacher Aide upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools at the contracted starting rate of minimum wage; carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

    **        .5 FTE Library Media Specialist

     

                Moved by Peg Gaston and seconded by Jeff Finch that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Lori Lacitignola, who is permanently certified in the Library Media Specialist area, is hereby appointed to a non-probationary, part-time (.5FTE) position in the school media specialist (library) tenure area for the 2017/18 school year starting on September 5, 2017 and ending on June 30, 2018.  Salary for school year is $30,000. This service will not be credited toward acquiring tenure.

    Motion carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

    **        Moved by Jeff Finch, seconded by Kevin Stefan to appoint Lindsay Futter to the probationary ( 4 years) position of .5 UPK Teacher upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools at the starting pro-rated salary of $18,375.00; carried unanimously (6 votes).

     

  3. 2017-18 Tax Warrant:

**        Moved by Peg Gaston, seconded by Jeff Finch to approve the Tax Warrant for the 2017-2018 school year as presented by Donald Childs pending equalization rates being finalized; carried unanimously (6 votes).
